Honda Korea has released the Black Edition of the midsize SUV model Pilot on the 4th of last month.
The Pilot has been a model that played a significant role in securing Honda’s competitiveness in North America. While the existing SUV lineup included the midsize model CR-V and the Passport based on a pickup truck, these two models did not achieve remarkable results.
In contrast, the Pilot boasts a simple design, excellent driving performance, practicality, and generous cargo space. It is a popular model in North America that fits well with the trend of preferring large SUVs, placing it in the top 3 in the North American market.
The current exterior design of the Pilot is based on the fourth-generation model released in November 2022. With reinforced body rigidity and dimensions of 5,090mm in length, 1,995mm in width, 1,805mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,890mm, the interior space is larger than the previous generation.
Compared to Hyundai’s equivalent model, the Palisade, the Pilot boasts larger dimensions in almost every aspect.
The front features a massive radiator grille, slim headlights, and angular air intakes on the lower sides, giving it a sturdy and solid impression.
The rear has slightly flashy LED taillamps with the ‘PILOT’ English lettering inside a horizontal black high-gloss bar.
The interior features a variety of options while adopting a simple design to reduce eye fatigue during long-distance driving. A key feature is the adoption of the ‘shift-by-wire’ button-style gear shifter that is also found in the CR-V and Accord.
The newly released Black Edition emphasizes the tough impression of the Pilot. The exterior design of the Black Edition is offered in black and white colors.
The interior features ambient lighting, red-themed stitching on the steering wheel and door panels, and ‘Black Edition’ lettering on the first-row headrests and floor mats, creating a harmonious look with black.
The Pilot Black Edition is positioned as a higher trim than the existing Elite trim, equipped with the same 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 289 horsepower and a maximum torque of 36.2 kgm.
The price is set at 70.9 million won, which is about 1 million won higher than the base model.
