Kia’s popular midsize SUV, the Sportage, is set to be unveiled with a facelift after 3 years since its release. This model is expected to exclude diesel engines from its lineup to align with recent market trends. Despite being released 4 years ago, the Sportage continues to maintain high popularity in Korea, outselling other SUV models. The size of the Sportage boasts the largest body among midsize SUVs, satisfying the demand of Korean consumers who prefer larger SUVs. With a competitive starting price of 25.37 million won, the Sportage offers a price advantage over its competitors. The upcoming facelift is expected to showcase significant exterior changes, incorporating Kia’s design philosophy of ‘Opposites United’ for a cleaner and more spacious appearance. The new design features vertical headlights, a large rectangular radiator grille, and improved aerodynamic performance. The rear end will have a new ‘D’-shaped taillamp graphic and horizontal brake and turn signals for a more modern look. The powertrain options will include a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine, a 1.6-liter hybrid, and a 2.0-liter LPi engine, with diesel engines being excluded. Kia plans to start production of the new Sportage in the fourth quarter of this year at its factories in Gwangju, Korea, and Georgia, USA.
