Xiaomi is launching a high-performance electric vehicle, the SU7 Ultra, with 1526 horsepower in the first quarter of next year. Xiaomi surprised the industry with its impressive performance in the second quarter of last year, and announced its entry into the electric vehicle market in 2021. The company unveiled the SU7 model in March this year.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently revealed the production plan for the brand’s electric car model, SU7 Ultra, during a live broadcast event. He stated that this model will be introduced to the market in the first quarter of next year.
The prototype of the SU7 Ultra, designed to be the fastest 4-door vehicle in the world, is equipped with the company’s self-developed ‘V8s’ engine. It generates a total of 1526 horsepower through two V8s motors and one V6s motor, using CATL’s Chilin 2nd generation battery.
With a zero-to-one hundred time of 1.97 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h, the SU7 Ultra weighs 1900kg, making it one of the lightest electric cars.
Xiaomi’s announcement demonstrates their ambitious aspirations in the electric vehicle market. They are preparing to engage consumers with a new electric car model based on technology and innovation.
The aerodynamic design of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is noteworthy, generating 2145kg of downforce at its top speed. The newly introduced ‘driving ability test’ system allows buyers to unlock the full potential of the SU7 Ultra by passing a series of programmed tests.
All vehicles are initially delivered in ‘beginner mode’, and as the driver enhances their driving skills, they can gradually utilize the full performance of the vehicle. This system is praised for ensuring the safe use of high-performance vehicles while encouraging driver skill improvement.
The exact price of the SU7 Ultra has not been disclosed, but CEO Lei Jun stated that the production model may be priced slightly higher, yet within a reasonable range.
