North Korean leader Kim Jong-un recently visited a school in Pyongyang to attend a demonstration class for children affected by the recent heavy downpours. The school was prepared for victims from flood-affected areas in the North Pyongan, Jagang, and Ryanggang provinces. Kim emphasized the importance of ensuring that the children study well during the recovery and creating a diverse schedule for their stay in Pyongyang. The children and other people from the flood-affected areas also enjoyed their time at the Munsu and Rungna water parks. Kim met with flood victims in Uiju County and promised to bring them to Pyongyang, where more than 13,000 victims were provided with accommodation. Kim pledged to support the flood victims without outside assistance, rejecting international aid and South Korea’s proposal for relief efforts.
