The confirmed national grant for the Polestar 4 medium-sized electric SUV has been announced. According to the Ministry of Environment’s EV Nuri House, the national grant for the Polestar 4 Long Range Single Motor model has been set at 2.24 million won, and in some regions, with additional local subsidies, the actual purchase price can go down to the 62 million won range.
With this grant confirmation, the Polestar 4 has gained a competitive edge in terms of pricing compared to other competing models such as the Tesla Model Y and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
The actual purchase price has been lowered even further thanks to the national grant, making it possible to purchase the Polestar 4 in the early 62 million won range in regions with high subsidy benefits, such as Yeonggwang County in Jeollanam-do. The basic selling price for the dual motor model is 71.9 million won, with the national grant for that model set to be announced later.
The pricing competitiveness of the Polestar 4 is around 30 million won lower than in major markets like the US and Europe. When combined with domestic subsidy benefits, the actual purchase price is now similar to or even lower than competing models like the Tesla Model Y (52.99 million won to 71.99 million won).
The Polestar 4 aims to excel in driving range and performance compared to its competitors. The Long Range Single Motor model is equipped with a 100kWh high-capacity battery, providing a certified driving range of 511km at room temperature, surpassing the Tesla Model Y Long Range (468km) and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV (452km) in performance and efficiency.
The Polestar 4’s strong acceleration capabilities make it a formidable competitor in the high-performance electric SUV market. The Dual Motor model boasts a maximum output of 544 horsepower and a maximum torque of 686Nm, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, boasting the fastest acceleration in Polestar’s history.
The Polestar 4 features an eco-friendly yet luxurious interior design, integrating a 100% recycled PET bottle material called ‘Tailored Knit’ to emphasize sustainability and luxury. It also comes with a 25.6-inch screen system consisting of a 15.4-inch center display and a 10.2-inch driver display, equipped with a TMAP-based infotainment system for an intuitive user experience.
Additionally, the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) called Pilot Pack is standard, providing functions such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, and parking assistance.
Equipped with 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 1 radar, the Polestar 4 detects the driving environment, offering functionalities similar to Tesla Model Y’s Autopilot system.
Currently imported from China, the Polestar 4 is planned to be domestically produced at the Busan plant starting in the second half of 2025. Domestic production is expected to enhance supply stability and price competitiveness, providing higher value to Korean consumers. Polestar Korea has stated, “Through domestic production, we will be able to provide higher value to Korean consumers.”
