The special city of Yongin will increase its budget by 111.2 billion won in the second supplementary budget, totaling 3.4448 trillion won, a 3.34% increase from the first supplementary budget.

The 286th city council temporary meeting will be held on the 2nd of next month for deliberation.

According to the city, the ‘2024 2nd additional budget bill’ with a total of 3 trillion 444.8 billion won, which increased by 3.34% (111.2 billion won) compared to the regular budget of 3 trillion 333.6 billion won, was submitted to the city council.

In order to prevent disasters and recover damages, the city focused on reflecting essential expenses such as maintenance of rivers, sewage facilities, and road facilities in this budget bill.

For the purpose of revitalizing the local economy and stabilizing people’s livelihoods, additional items such as special guarantees for small business owners, basic living support, and support for local currency issuance were added.

In the field of sustainable development, items such as creating energy income villages and leading the Gyeonggi RE100 project were included in the budget.

The major projects funded by national and provincial budgets include public service projects, additional support for 5-year-old child education, and special grants for 11 projects.

The ‘2024 2nd additional budget bill’ is scheduled to be finally confirmed after deliberation and resolution at the 286th temporary meeting of the Yongin Special City Council, which will begin on the 2nd of next month.

Mayor Lee Sang-il explained that the additional budget was prepared with a focus on disaster prevention, damage recovery, protection of vulnerable groups in difficult economic times, and revitalization of the local economy amidst declining tax revenues due to economic slowdown.
