Venezuelan Supreme Court validates Maduro’s election victory, opposition claims bias.

The Supreme Court of Venezuela announced on the 22nd that there are no issues with the vote counting process by the National Electoral Council (CNE) in relation to the controversy over electoral fraud in the presidential election. This decision confirmed Nicolas Maduro’s election as president for the third time. Despite the Supreme Court’s announcement, the controversy surrounding the election is expected to continue as the verification of the vote counting process by the Electoral Council was requested by President Maduro’s side. The international community, including the United States and the European Union, has expressed doubts about recognizing Maduro’s election, and the US Treasury Department is reportedly preparing to impose sanctions on around 60 Venezuelan officials, including members of the Electoral Council and the Supreme Court. The International Criminal Court (ICC) is also monitoring the anti-government protests and the government’s response in Venezuela.
